Description
Christmas cards capturing two moments from Clement Clarke Moore’s (1779-1863) beloved poem ‘A Visit from St Nicholas’, more commonly known as ‘The Night Before Christmas’. With illustrations by popular American artist Jessie Willcox Smith (1863-1935) from an edition of 1912, the cards picture ‘The Children were nestled all snug in their beds’ and ‘…giving a Nod, Up the Chimney He Rose’. First published in 1823, readings of the poem became itself a Christmas tradition for generations of children.
