Description
Christmas cards reproducing endearing 1950s paintings of a robin and blackbird amidst winter snow, by Surrey-based British artist Heda Armour (1914-96). With glinting details of the birds’ eyes and colourful hellebores, holly berries, winter aconites and snowdrops, the charming cards capture two favourite British birds in snowy country garden settings. Heda – short for Hedvig – Armour trained at the Guildford School of Art in the 1930s and exhibited at the Royal Academy. The paintings are reproduced from the Christmas card archive of The Medici Society, founded 1908.
