Description
Hand-carved boxwood netsuke in the shape of a bear reflecting traditional Japanese garment toggles that originated during the Edo period (17th–19th centuries). Originally used to secure small containers like inro to a kimono’s sash, netsuke evolved into miniature sculptures reflecting themes from nature, mythology, or daily life. The bear is a symbol of protection, strength and courage in East Asia, making this a unique and meaningful collector’s piece.
