Reversible floral cotton jacket echoing the designs of Anna Garthwaite (1688-1763). Garthwaite was an English textile designer, known for creating vivid floral designs for silk fabrics hand-woven in Spitalfields, London. She has been described as the ‘pre-eminent silk designer of her period’, with her designs favouring clusters of naturalistic flowers. Lightly quilted, this versatile cotton jacket is reversible to an olive green sprigged design, echoing the printed muslins of the 18th century.
