Winter Owl Paperweight

Royal Crown Derby winter owl paperweight hand-modelled in England in fine bone china using centuries-old techniques, decorated with 22 carat gold. Established c.1750, the factory was granted the honour of including a crown on the back stamp by King George III in 1775 and given the title 'Royal' by Queen Victoria in 1890. Fine bone china, distinguished from other porcelains by the inclusion of calcined bone ash, which gives it exceptional whiteness, translucency and strength, was perfected in England in the late 18th century, and Royal Crown Derby's skilled decorators have long been regarded as among the finest in the world, their intricate gilding and hand-painted detail placing each piece within a centuries-old tradition of ceramic artistry.
