Hand-carved whale netsuke symbolising peace, wisdom and longevity in Southeast Asian cultures, where whales are revered for their gentle strength. Netsukes are small carved toggles originally used as garment closures in Japan, evolved into intricate miniature sculptures from the 17th century onwards. This Netsuke are prized not only for their function but as highly collectible works of art. Each piece is unique.
