Description
A delightful hand-painted resin mouse holding a farthing coin, evoking the Victorian and Edwardian fashion for whimsical animal figurines. The farthing, first minted under Edward I in the 13th century, was worth a quarter of a penny, its name derived from the Old English feorthing. Although demonetised in 1960, it long carried associations of thrift and good fortune, often kept as a lucky charm. This playful piece recalls the 19th-century taste for novelty collectibles.
