Enamelled Art Deco Clock

Petite hand-enamelled and crystal-set clock reflecting the style of Art Deco pieces by Boucheron, Paris, in the 1920s. The great Parisian jewellery houses, Boucheron, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, brought to the Art Deco decorative clock a level of material and artistic ambition that placed these small objects firmly within the highest tradition of the jeweller's and goldsmith's craft, their cases enamelled in the most demanding grand feu techniques and set with precious stones in the geometric, polychrome combinations that defined the style's most refined expression. Boucheron, founded on the Place Vendome in 1858, was among the first of these houses to embrace the new geometric aesthetic fully, and its clocks of the 1920s remain among the defining objects of Art Deco at its most sophisticated.
