Forest Deer Tapestry Cushion

Deer tapestry cushion echoing a 19th-century oil painting ‘Stag in Highland scene’ by Carl Frederick Deiker (1836 - 92). Deiker was known for his specialisation in animal and hunting motifs, and collaborated with his brother Johannes to create dynamic and naturalistic compositions featuring wildlife such as deer, wild boars, hares, vultures and falcons. These paintings were popular in the 19th century, reflecting a fascination with nature and the romanticised view of the hunt.
