Description
Cotton T-shirt for cycling enthusiasts, combining a quote from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) with a detail from The Simpson Chain poster of 1896 by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Doyle, best known for creating Sherlock Holmes, was also an advocate for outdoor exercise, declaring that “When the spirits are low… there is nothing… so good for the spirits as a long cycle ride.” Toulouse-Lautrec’s original lithograph advertised a then-innovative bicycle chain, reflecting the cycling boom of the Belle Époque. Printed in England.

Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
