‘Over the waves, with the wind behind her / and foam at her neck, she flew like a bird / until her curved prow had covered the distance’, ‘Beowulf’, 217-219, translated by Seamus Heaney (1939-2013)
An absorbing wooden puzzle inspired by Viking long ships and featuring a decorative dragon’s head prow. The most ornate Viking ships were called ‘drakkar’, or ‘dragon’, after the decorative carvings which were thought to ward off evil spirits. Formed from six tactile, interlocked beech wood pieces, can you take the puzzle apart and then put it back together? Requiring nine moves to pull the puzzle apart, the handsome shaped puzzle is both decorative to display and fiendish to solve. The box includes an illustrated scroll showing the solution if you are defeated.

Did not receive this gift as parcel was delivered to wrong address, despite having the correct address on label, and this item was sold out for the replacement. Very disappointing
