Wooden Knitting Mushroom

A timeless craft for mindful fun: try your hand at French Knitting, which creates a long, knitted 'sausage' or 'tube' of stitched yarn through the wooden spool, or ‘Knitting Nancy’ as they were known in the Victorian era. The craft has been recorded since the 16th century and is known as ‘French Knitting’ in Britain recalling ‘Les Tricoteuses’ (the knitting women), who knitted while the guillotine fell during the French Revolution, who are thought to have been occupied with this form of simple knitting. With simple instructions, the kit includes a whimsical toadstool-shaped wooden Knitting Nancy, or ‘doll’ as they are otherwise called, plus 3m each of five colourful yarns. Simply lace the wool over the metal frame at the top and then use the wooden knitting ‘needle’-tool to loop the yarn over the frame. You can then create coiled coasters, accessories and other crafty items with your knitting. A fun craft to keep your fingers busy and agile.
