Description
A jigsaw puzzle with a witty mix of old and new: a bravura bouquet of beautiful botanical details, including many details from works by Pierre-Jospeh Redouté (1759-1840), and flower name-ribbons with contemporary text-speak interpretations of the meanings ascribed by Victorians in floriography, or the language of flowers. Filled with exquisite details, the design is a contemporary collage of floral details by American artist Allegra Vernon and imagines how today’s fashionable social media influencers might express the meanings behind the flowers – from ‘I like U’ to ‘Let’s be besties’. Originally a coded way of sending messages through posies of meaningful flowers during the 19th century, the design gives a witty twist with today's coded language forms and slang. Full of colour and delicate floral forms, the flowers include Redouté’s illustrations of narcissi, hydrangeas, tulips, magnolias, heliotrope, snapdragons, poppies, and more. Made from recycled materials, the blue puzzle board features a matt, linen-finish surface and random-shaped pieces for a unique shape and snug fit.
