Description
A jigsaw puzzle celebrating fine art of afternoon tea with a photographic design of elegant teacups; decorated with pretty, painted and transferware designs spanning the 19th and 21st centuries. The stacks of crockery mix dainty hand-painted designs, such as Crown Staffordshire’s Blue Bow Ribbon and elegant patterns recalling 1840s John Ridgeway and Coalport; with Cobalt Net of Russian Lomonsov, dating to the 1840s but inspired by 18th century pieces; and jolly, sprigged chintzes c.1940s-50s, including Shelley, Hammersley and Royal Albert-style designs. Credited to Anna Maria, Duchess of Bedford (1783-1857), the fashion for taking afternoon tea is thought to have developed from the 1840s, becoming, by the 1880s, a fixture of the social diary, celebrated with the finest china, fashionable dress and elegant repartee. Filled with detail and eye-catching colours, the jigsaw pieces are made from recycled and FSC materials, and the box includes a handy image guide for the full design. A perfect jigsaw puzzle to gather around and savour while enjoying a cup of tea.
