PRODUCT DETAILS
Description
A painterly jigsaw puzzle captures natural specimens spanning shells, gemstones, eggs, feathers and sea life, including star fish and sea anemones. Beginning in the 18th century with expeditions by naturalists such as Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820), it was during the 19th century that collecting and classifying specimens became something of a Victorian craze. From conchylomania (meaning ‘shell fever') to feather-hunting plumomania, displaying specimens in ‘Parlour Cases’ became a fashionable artform. This colourful design mixes amethyst and agate with exotic and British specimens allowing you to enjoy natural beauties without damaging precious habitats. Created using a thick recycled puzzle board and a low-glare finish, this sustainable British-made jigsaw includes a handy image guide.
