Description
‘There are Fairies at the Bottom of Our Garden’, poem by Rose Fyleman (1877-1957)
An enchanting jigsaw puzzle with fairies most definitely at the bottom of the garden. Reproducing a whimsical design of fairies, pixies, toadstools, butterflies and birds, nestled amidst billowing flowers and foliage by contemporary American artist Barbara Anderson, whose art is inspired by Victorian and Edwardian ephemera. The fairy tea party hidden within the scene recalls the work of acclaimed illustrators of fairy art, such as Gustave Doré (1832-83), John Anster Fitzgerald (1819-1906), Walter Crane (1845-1915), and more. Recalling the magical age of The Cottingley Fairies, when photographic ‘proof’ of fairies was recorded in 1917 causing a popular culture craze, the jigsaw will transport you to a garden of whimsy and wonder. Created with recycled materials by Gibsons, a British, family-owned puzzle company founded in 1919.
