Instone Earrings

Silver earrings set with moonstone, tourmaline, citrine and blue topaz, based on a design by Bernard Instone (1891-1987), who trained under the Arts and Crafts jeweller Arthur Gaskin and carried the movement's naturalistic silver tradition into the 20th century with a sustained refinement and delicacy. Instone's work belongs to the great tradition of British Arts and Crafts jewellery that sought, in deliberate opposition to the mass-produced jewellery of the Victorian trade, to restore to the making of personal ornament the qualities of individual craftsmanship, natural beauty and human feeling. With hooks; natural stones may vary. Mixed stones lend the earrings soft colour and delicate Arts and Crafts character.
