Description
Framed print reproducing 'Spitfire' by contemporary artist Michael Sanders, paying tribute to the Supermarine Spitfire, a fighter aircraft designed by Reginald Joseph Mitchell (1895–1937) and first flown in 1936. The Spitfire became a symbol of British resilience during the Battle of Britain in 1940, its elliptical wings and Rolls-Royce Merlin engine representing a triumph of aeronautical engineering. This artwork evokes the grace and power of the aircraft that defended Britain’s skies, recalling the courage of pilots immortalised in wartime art and photography. Made in England.

Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
