Magnolia & Irises Tapestry

Handsome tapestry based on ‘Magnolias and Irises’, a leaded window from c.1908 by the Tiffany Studio. Produced as a memorial for the Frank family, it is now held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The River of Life which runs through the middle of this landscape is a theme that is prevalent in Tiffany landscapes created for memorials. Working primarily in the Art Nouveau style, Tiffany designed stained glass windows and lamps, glass mosaics, blown glass, ceramics, jewellery, enamels, and metalwork. He was the first design director at his family company, Tiffany & Co., founded by his father Charles Lewis Tiffany and his work remains as sought after now as then. This striking tapestry captures the graceful lines and harmonious tones of the original stained glass, an elegant focal point for a hall or living room.
