Description
Striking blue vase echoing the swirling decoration of Loetz glass from Bohemia (c.1900), reflecting Art Nouveau's fascination with natural form and fluid movement. The Loetz glassworks developed their celebrated iridescent Papillon glass in the 1890s, a technique involving metallic oxide treatments that produced surfaces of shifting, oil-on-water luminosity inspired by the weathered patina of ancient Roman glass and the iridescent wings of beetles and peacock feathers. Exhibited to international acclaim at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1900, Loetz glass became synonymous with the Art Nouveau ideal of a beauty derived entirely from nature's own forms and colours. Beautiful on any mantelpiece, shelf or windowsill, and a striking gift for any admirer of Art Nouveau glass or for anyone who appreciates an object that looks different every time the light changes. Each unique.

Beautiful vase -larger than I thought. The colours are muted giving a calming effect.
Seems sturdy but looks quite delicate. It was packed up very safely.
