Literary Owl Candle Holder

Porcelain candle holder in the form of a literary owl, evoking the whimsical decorative pieces fashionable in the 1930s, when playful figural ornaments brought a note of wit and character into the British home. The owl has long carried symbolic weight in Western culture, associated since antiquity with wisdom and learning through its connection to Athena, the Greek goddess of knowledge, a meaning that has made the owl a natural and enduring motif for bookish and studious gifts. A wise companion for the bookshelf or bedside, it holds a short dinner candle. Charming for any book lover, well suited to Christmas or a birthday for the bookish reader in your life. Please note, the candle is not included.
