Larkspur Pomegranate & Cassis Candle

William Morris glass votive with decoration based on 'Larkspur', designed by William Morris in 1872, filled with a pomegranate and cassis scented candle. 'Larkspur' was among Morris's earliest and most successful printed textile designs, its densely interlacing stems and carefully observed flowers, derived from his study of 16th-century Italian velvets and the millefleurs backgrounds of medieval tapestry, that would underpin his entire subsequent career as a pattern-designer.
