Description
A celebration of 70 of the worst car clunkers and forgotten models of the 20th century. This book has an expertly humorous commentary and is illustrated with photographs and advertising ephemera. The fact-filled profiles examine the wayward stories of each car in a ‘Who’s Who’ of motoring ignominy. From the 1950s AC Petite to the Zagato Zele from 1970s Italy, an A-Z of the runners up from motoring history. Includes ‘Plus’ and ‘Minus’ points for each engineering wonder and unofficial league tables, including the ugliest, slowest and daftest cars. This entertaining guide is guaranteed to rev up memories of first cars, old-faithful, family motors and so-bad-they’re-good driving stories.

It is a gift but I had to read the book because cars are an area of interest for me. It’s a very well written book with an engaging layout. There’s a lot of humour in the text and the little boxes (best features/worst features) make for a great precis. Then there’s the details of when each car was produced, how much they cost new and how many were made. There are photos and sketches of some of the designs and commentary on the designers and the car manufacturers. And an indication of just how valuable some of the cars might be, should you have one tucked away at the back of a barn. Highly recommended for car enthusiasts- although many are from a bygone era. But younger enthusiasts will be amazed at the sheer variety of styles and chassis and engine types. Must go and read the companion volume of the best cars ever made - if the author has written that one…

Just taken a quick look as it’s a gift, but it looks pretty interesting with good photos and humorous write ups which I would imagine will be of interest to motor enthusiasts.
