Tropics Jigsaw

A bold jigsaw evocation of tropical flora and birds by contemporary Philippines-based botanical illustrator Raxenne Maniquiz. The colourful design and botanical details recalls the plant-hunting exploits of botanists and botanical artists as they raced to catalogue exotic specimens during the 19th century. The Palm House at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew was built between 1844 and 88 and was a spectacular structure designed to house the newly-discovered species brought back by plant hunters such as Sir Joseph Hooker (1817-1911), and Ernest Henry Wilson (1876-1930). Mixing orchids, palms, passionflower, strelitzia with fruit, seeds and tropical birds, the jigsaw will bring warmth to even the most wintry day. A challenging design with irregular pieces, including 20 whimsy shapes which nestle within the design.
