Pack of 20 Dutch Tile Skating Christmas Cards

Charming Christmas cards adapted from a series of blue-and-white glazed Dutch tiles from c.1625-75; the tiles are now in the collection of Museum Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Each card focuses on a characterful ice skater enjoying the frozen rivers and canals of the country during ‘The Little Ice Age’ of the 16th and 17th centuries, when Frost Fairs were a fun-filled winter highlight. Capturing the original cracks in the tile glaze and married with corner flourishes in blue, the tiles capture characterful details, similar to those painted, memorably, by the great Dutch Master artists Hendrick Avercamp (1585–1634) and Pieter Bruegel The Elder (d.1569). Fun cards to raise smiles at Christmas.
