Pack of 10 Madonna & Child Christmas Cards

Affecting and beautiful Christmas cards reproducing an exquisitely tender image of the Madonna and Child, painted c.1907-08, by Marianne Stokes (1855-1927). With elegant gold foil details highlighting the Madonna’s halo, the twisting thorns and the skeletal angelica seed heads in the rich navy-blue background. Born in Austria, Stokes married the British landscape painter Adrian Scott Stokes (1854–1935) and the couple settled in England. Considered one of the leading women artists of Victorian England, her work has been described as symbolist, naturalist as well as Pre-Raphaelite. Bringing Christian meaning and a meditative pause amidst the Christmas festivities, the striking image is sure to delight loved ones throughout the season.
