Description
Striking Christmas cards showcasing botanical details from calendar pages by Netty van der Waarden from (1901-1903), Theo Nieuwenhuis (1866-1951), and Anna Sipkema (1877–1933), all now in the collection of The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Reflecting the stylistic character of ‘Nieuwe Kunst’ (‘New Art’), Dutch Art Nouveau, the motifs are highly stylised and placed in symmetrical shapes typical of this more angular, regional style. Mixing seasonal details of pine cones, hellebores, holly and berries from the decorative page-borders, the cards have been adapted to frame a printed greeting on each card where the original calendar grid was placed. Smart and refreshing designs to send your Christmas wishes to loved ones near and far. The card fronts are printed with various messages: ‘Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year’, ‘Merry Christmas’, and ‘With Best Wishes For Christmas And The New Year’.
