Description
I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year’, Ebenezer Scrooge in 'A Christmas Carol', by Charles Dickens (1812-70), published 1843
Christmas cards to celebrate the season with the much-loved characters created by Charles Dickens (1812-70). While Queen Victoria popularised German Christmas traditions, it was, arguably, Dickens, whose writings reinvented Christmas for the industrial age by re-imagining the seasonal celebration in British cities and for all of society. Published in 1843, ‘A Christmas Carol’ was an instant hit and is now synonymous with the celebration and redemptive power of Christmas. Reproducing festive illustrations, the card include ‘Mr Fezziwig's Ball’ by John Leech (1817-64) for the frontispiece of 'A Christmas Carol'; ‘The Cratchits' Christmas Dinner’, from an illustration by Gilbert Scott Wright (1880-1958) for 'The Children's Dickens', 1909; illustrations adapted from details by Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) for a 1915 edition of 'A Christmas Carol'; and ‘In the Days of Dickens’, 1923, by Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) which recalls the Pickwick Club. Timeless Christmas cards to send traditional cheer, perfect for bookworms and lovers of great illustration alike.

This year I decided on a theme for Christmas and felt that 'Dickens' was how many of us picture his way of viewing the season, particularly 'A Christmas Carol', but although the cards are nice enough, I am a little disappointed in their size.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the size of your Christmas Dickens Cards. Kind regards, Alice.
