20 Japanese Nature Christmas Cards

Elegant Christmas cards, reproducing endearing snowy portraits of birds and animals from 18th and 20th-century Japanese masters. Includes ‘Black Bear Cub in the Snow’, 1799, by Mori Shuho (1738-1823); ‘Pair of Pheasants in the Snow’, c.1925-36, by Ohara Koson (1877-1945); and ‘Monkey on a Snowy Branch’, 1770, by Maruyama Okyo (1733-95). Mixing woodblock prints with colour ink paintings on silk, the closely observed studies include charming details and expressions. The original artworks are now in the Japanese art collections of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Rijksmuseum, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
