Winter berry wall art echoing the stylised floral patterns of Charles Francis Annesley Voysey (1857–1941), the Arts and Crafts architect and designer whose rhythmic, nature-inspired motifs shaped British decorative design at the turn of the twentieth century. Trained as an architect, Voysey turned increasingly to pattern design for wallpapers and textiles, working chiefly for the manufacturer Essex & Co., and became known for flattened, repeating depictions of birds, trees and berries rendered with a distinctive linear simplicity that anticipated much of twentieth-century design. Crafted in painted steel, this winter berry piece captures that same decorative rhythm, making a handsome statement indoors or in a sheltered garden spot.
