Description
A dynamic heron garden sculpture crafted from bronze-tone powder-coated steel, the heron is a prominent symbol in Japanese culture, often representing grace, longevity and resilience. The heron was a frequent subject of ukiyo-e artists, especially during the Meiji period. Koson Ohara (1877-1945), a renowned Japanese printmaker, was famous for his depictions of birds, including herons, in his delicate and lifelike woodblock prints. His work is part of the shin-hanga (new prints) movement, which revived traditional Japanese printmaking in the early 20th century. This garden sculpture continues the tradition of Japanese bird imagery in art, honouring nature’s elegance.

Bought as a feature item for the garden and I am glad to say that it looks fantastic. The colouring really stands out but I suspect that it would not fare well over the winter so will have to live in the summer house once the weather brings not only rain but frost, etc.
