Dorothea Duck Statue

Charming sculpture recalling the long tradition of anthropomorphic animal characters, from Aesop’s fables (c.620–564 BC), where creatures were endowed with human qualities to convey moral lessons, through to the Edwardian era, when such figures reappeared in decorative arts and children’s illustration. Across centuries, animals shaped as thoughtful, mischievous or wise characters offered both storytelling and gentle symbolism. This design draws on that enduring lineage, echoing the narratives and meanings it carried into the home and garden.
