Description
Soft merino wool cardigan decorated with cable stitches in a flattering, collared style with a side-button fastening. Knitting is hugely significant to Celtic history, with knitting patterns used by Aran islanders dating back to 800 ad, for example, the book of Kells includes a picture of an Aran-style knit. Originally worn by fishermen, the traditional Aran stitches have emblematic meaning, the cable stitch representing luck and protection. The style gained renewed popularity in the early 20th century with knitting patterns produced by Patons.

I bought one for myself before Christmas and when my daughter saw it - and tried it on! - she was smitten. It was a bit too expensive for her so we bought it as a birthday present. Both delighted with the item. I have washed mine and it came though extremely well -I washed it the same way I wash some cashmere jumpers I have.
