Description
Fun greetings cards which celebrate book-themed illustrations from 1924 with quotations from Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple mysteries by the doyenne of crime writing, Agatha Christie (1890-1976). Four designs feature details of bookish pleasures from a set of bridge scorecards; each framed with an Art Deco flourish and a Christie quotation. With Poirot’s adages that ‘It's not a man's working hours that are important - it's his leisure hours’, and ‘If the little grey cells are not exercised, they grow the rust’; set alongside Miss Marple’s comment, "My dear, we won't talk any more about murder during tea. Such an unpleasant subject"; and Bess Sedgwick’s phrase from ‘At Betram’s Hotel’, 1965: ‘I was born to live dangerously’. Blank inside for your own message, the cards will delight lovers of Art Deco style and sleuthing.
