Description
Greetings cards which showcase the intricate flowers, berries and acutely observed insects from the borders of exquisite, early-16th century illuminated manuscripts, now in the collection of the Getty Museum, Los Angeles. Each design presents a printed collage or mosaic of details, including sweet peas, roses, aquilegia, daisies, irises, ladybirds, moths and butterflies; all set against the gilt-effect of the original manuscript’s background. Created by the Flemish Master of James IV of Scotland (fl. 1485– c.1526), and French Master of the Getty Epistles (fl. c.1520-49), the decorative marginalia is combined with a contemporary twist to appreciate the intricate details. Blank for your own message, the cards are perfect for notes and occasions throughout the year.
