The cover reproduces a detail of a hare with acanthus leaves, tulips and auriculas from ‘The Forest’, 1887, a tapestry now in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum and, originally, a collaboration between Arts and Crafts artists William Morris (1834-96), who designed the background; J.H. Dearle (1859-1932), who designed the flowers; and Philip Webb (1831-1915), who supplied the animal studies. With a convenient magnetic side flap closure and a pocket inside the back cover for receipts, the design is embellished with metallic foil. The hardback sits alongside two soft-cover journals, each with tactile faux leather covers, rounded corners. In orange and blue, the designs are embellished with eye-catching sprigged floral prints decorating the edges, mixing magnolia and blossom with honeysuckle and chrysanthemums.
