The History of your House

I have yet to receive the 4th book I ordered

Purchased as a gift , nicely presented on quality paper and set out well, however on receipt I am not sure it is worth the purchase price

This item is meant as a gift for a relative, so it will not be scrutinised until the festive season. But I was impressed by the speed of delivery.

Museum Selection UK replied to the second email I sent expressing disappointment with an item ordered from them but, since the item was personalised, I was unable to gain satisfaction. The item I bought was a personalised book about a property ('My House History'); I paid £49.99 for this - £45 for the book plus £4.99 for delivery. This is not an inconsiderable sum. My hopes were high - my sister has just moved into an old cottage and this was to be a gift for her. First impressions were very good, but this turned out to be, I felt, 'style over substance'. The information was not as personalised as I had hoped it would be - the name of the cottage and of the market town in which it is placed were not mentioned in the text (more mention was made of other towns nearby); the market town itself could only be seen on the maps provided. What filled me with dismay, however, was a typo in an obvious place - the text said 'roman roads' where it should have said 'Roman roads'. My sister and her husband (a retired teacher and headteacher respectively) will definitely notice such an error, and such a mistake calls into question the quality of the whole book. I realise that, as this is a personalised item, a return and refund is problematic. To me this has highlighted the danger of online ordering. If I had seen the quality of this product before ordering, I would most assuredly not have bought it. Having paid so much for the book, I feel obliged to give it as a gift, but will do so reluctantly and admit to my sister concerns about its quality. I repeat, a disappointing experience.

i have found this a very good read, very interesting, i must have another property to delve into it's history.

Pleased with this as it will make an unusual gift. Quite a lot of content and I like the fact that one can do further research ( tips included on how to go about this) and add to the book

Good maps to add to the history of our home though could do with some earlier maps as well

A very nice reference book-which I can add to at any time. The book is of good quality. I love Social History-this will also make a lovely present-even if the recipient isn't into Social History.
