Description
Opulent Christmas cards reproducing a watercolour and pencil study of an ornamental tie-back by Henry Moran in 1939; just one of thousands of architectural details recorded for 'The Index of American Design', 1935-42. The Federal Art Project, begun as a work-relief programme during the Depression, sought to preserve the ‘usable past’ of America, recording details of design and man-made objects from colonial through to contemporary American design. The beautiful colours of the original were created in gouache, and accented here with a ‘frost’ of iridescent biodegradable glitter, and with a clever folding stand to display the card. Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
