Victorian Christmas Tree Ornament

Christmas tree ornament recalling Victorian festivities, when the decorated tree, newly introduced from Germany, was hung with shimmering trinkets to delight the household. The custom is often credited to Prince Albert (1819–1861), who brought the German tradition of the Christmas tree to Windsor Castle in the 1840s; an 1848 illustration of the royal family gathered around their decorated tree, widely reproduced in the press, did much to popularise the custom among the British public and beyond. Modelled in resin with metallic details, it brings a note of period charm to the festive display or side table. Lovely as a Christmas gift for anyone who loves the history and heritage of a traditional festive season.
