Spode Christmas Tree Crackers

Set of six handmade crackers bearing a Spode design first introduced in 1938, itself adapted from the earlier nineteenth-century transferware tradition pioneered by Josiah Spode (1733–1797) and his successors, whose innovations in printed pottery decoration transformed the Staffordshire ceramics industry into a global export trade. The transferware technique, developed to reproduce detailed engraved patterns quickly and consistently onto earthenware, allowed decorative designs once reserved for the wealthy to reach a much wider market. Each cracker pulls with a satisfying snap to reveal a joke, a paper hat and a surprise gift, a heritage flourish for the Christmas table. Lovely for anyone who loves classic British design and festive tradition. Please note gifts may vary from those shown.
