Set of four refined tablemats reproducing details from two Dutch still lifes painted around 1820 by Henriëtte Geertruida Knip (1783–1842), now in the Rijksmuseum. In these works Knip extended the great still-life tradition of the Dutch Golden Age into the early 19th century with close observation, quiet sensitivity and a delicate feeling for colour and light that give her flower paintings a freshness and intimacy entirely their own. In heat-resistant melamine with eucalyptus wood and cork backing, two of each design. Lovely on any table, and a beautiful gift for any admirer of Dutch painting. Made in Scotland.
