‘Bum-barrels twit on bush and tree / Scarce bigger than a bumble bee / And in a white thorn’s leafy rest / It builds its curious pudding-nest’, an ode to Long-tailed tits, known as ‘bum-barrels’ in John Clare's (1793-1864) native Northamptonshire
A pretty porcelain mug decorated with a wrap-around design of apple blossom and two perching Long-tailed tits, one with the bird's signature long tail up and the other with it down; reproducing a contemporary illustration by British artist Catherine Brewer. Highly sociable birds, Long-tailed tits are bustling and busy searching for insects and huddling in family flocks. The practical, chunky porcelain shape is perfect for enjoying a beverage while watching the garden birds – or even better when sharing a warm drink with a friend. Individually boxed and presented in plastic-free packaging.
