A fine new bone china-mug with which to enjoy a beverage in the company of John Constable’s (1776-1837) atmospheric painting ‘The Sea near Brighton’, 1826; now in the collection of the Tate. Wrapping around the body of the mug, the artwork captures the soothing seascape as the waves of the sea blend into the clouds of the sky above, with the suggestion of sea birds in flight and ships on the water. With a generous capacity and fine profile, the tranquil image contrasts with a plain white mug interior.
