Blue Italian Tealight Holders

Set of two porcelain tealight holders decorated with Spode's 'Blue Italian', the celebrated pattern first introduced in 1816 and inspired by the romantic Italian landscapes and classical ruins so admired by wealthy travellers on the Grand Tour, the extended continental journey considered an essential part of a gentleman's education from the seventeenth century onward. Combining a central Italianate scene with Spode's own decorative floral border, the pattern has remained in continuous production for over two centuries, making it one of the longest-running designs in British ceramic history. Please note, candles are not included.
