A heavenly ornament, hand-carved in Bethlehem from olive wood depicting an angel. Olive wood carving is thought to have been practised in Bethlehem since the 4th century when monks created artefacts for Pilgrims visiting the newly-constructed Church of the Nativity. This diminutive angel figurine holds their hands in prayer, and the naïve form showcases the unique grain and colouring within the wood. Each piece of wood will vary slightly in tone and patterning, making a unique ornament to display at Christmas or year-round as a heartfelt reminder of the Nativity.

Have had to return this twice. Maybe at a quarter of the price it would be OK but they are obviously mass produced with little consideration for the grain of the wood. As a result the ones I received were not suitable for display because of the disturbing effect of the grain on the face.
