8 Carnation Storage Boxes

Set of eight decorative storage and gift boxes with a floral pattern across a range of coordinating shapes, echoing Victorian textile and wallpaper designs. Made from sturdy cardboard with lift-off lids, four nesting finished with ribbon trim. The Victorian passion for elaborate pattern-making was powerfully shaped by designers such as William Morris, who looked to the natural world, meadow flowers, climbing vines, foliate forms, to create the rich, repeating motifs that became emblematic of the age. At the same time, advances in chromolithographic printing made decorative patterned packaging widely accessible, transforming the giving and storing of gifts into an aesthetic pleasure in its own right.
