Lapis & Gemstone Bracelet

Elasticated bracelet combining lapis lazuli, agate, howlite and decorative brass spacer beads, recalling the medieval esteem for lapis lazuli, once valued above gold as the source of precious ultramarine pigment. Its deep blue colour made it prized in manuscripts, panel painting and lapidary work, where richly coloured stones were admired for both beauty and rarity. Measures c.19cm unstretched.
