Hygeia Bangle

Hand-enamelled crystal-set costume bangle evoking the swirling lines of the robe depicted in 'Hygieia', 1907, by the Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt (1862–1918), created as part of his controversial 'Medicine' mural commissioned by the University of Vienna. Hygieia, the Greek goddess of health and cleanliness, was depicted by Klimt draped in a richly patterned, serpent-entwined robe rendered in his distinctive decorative style, its flowing lines echoed here in gold-tone and mixed blue hues with a hinged closure.
