Floral Enamel Bangle

McCrae, a Canadian military doctor, composed his poem at the dressing station near Ypres the day after the death of a close friend, drawing on the sight of poppies blooming over the graves of the fallen, a natural resilience amid devastation that gave the flower its enduring meaning as an emblem of both loss and hope.
