Pretty gold-plated silver pendant set with a floral central amethyst and mixed tourmalines, echoing a design from the turn of the 19th century when botanical motifs were interpreted in lighter styles. The turn-of-the-century jewellery aesthetic drew heavily on the Art Nouveau movement's celebration of natural forms, moving away from the heavy, gemstone-dominated pieces of the Victorian era towards more delicate, nature-inspired designs in which enamelling and semi-precious stones such as amethysts and tourmalines were prized for their subtle colour rather than their monetary value.
